Silver Linings Playbook
Summary: A hugely enjoyable film. Jennifer Lawrence is one of those screen presences you can't look away from.
I finally got around to seeing this little gem…am I ever glad I did. It was well worth the trip to the theatre and the crazy amount of money I shelled out to see it (is it just me, or do you also think the cost to see a movie is ridiculous?)
Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, need I say more? They are two of the hottest actors around, and it’s not just hype, they can act, and this movie proves it.
Cooper plays Pat Solitano, a bipolar sufferer who has just been released from a state institution where he’s been locked up for several months after punching out a work colleague he found having sex with his wife.
After moving back into his dysfunctional family home with his parents, Pat finds rebuilding his life isn’t going to be easy, by any means. He has few social skills and spews whatever is on his mind without thinking. Even so, Pat is determined to rebuild his life and reunite with his wife, despite the challenging circumstances of their separation.
In walks Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), a mysterious girl with problems of her own. Needless to say, things get complicated. Tiffany offers to help Pat reconcile with his wife, but only if he’ll do something for her in return (I’m not giving it away, you’ll have to watch the movie yourself). As their deal plays out, an unexpected bond begins to form between them.
Cooper and Lawrence have great chemistry, it’s one of the many delights of the movie. Two thumbs up, see it!
